You’ve Arrived! Momo's Mind

A Memorant

LIFE AS A STORY

Life! We all wade through it and as we do, our stories take shape. Almost everyone loves a good story and I hope you find many that you like here. Perhaps you can relate to them, learn from them, or just plain enjoy them. Regardless, I am writing to share memories. Memories can be joyous things, or they can torture us, but one thing we all have in common is the need to share our stories. What else are our stories other than the telling of what we remember? How else do we get to know one another, connect, and learn to understand the human condition? I hope that you, dear reader, will find solace and connection as I share my memories and tell my stories. I truly hope you will reach out and let me know what you think of what you read. Then, I encourage you to find ways to tell your own stories because deep in my heart I know they are worth sharing.

For numerous years, I have had the privilege to travel throughout much of the world. I have also been a public school teacher which has allowed me to get to know children (and their parents) from all walks of life. These experiences have led me to the realization that the bonds of humanity can be found in the similarities of our memories: we all seek love and we all suffer without it. We all laugh, cry, and feel pain. We sing, dance, celebrate, worship, mourn, and yes, tell stories. I invite you to join me here on this blog as I share my memories and invite you to participate in keeping your stories alive as well. Use your voice. Tell your stories to your friends and family, your children and grandchildren. Write them down somewhere: in a diary, on a wall, in a letter, essay, blog, or novel. Share them over coffee in a cafe, in a classroom, or at a party. Or just go shout your story from a mountain top, out to the sea from the beach, or into the trees in the forest, and into the stars at night. Let the universe know you have a story to tell. That YOU WERE HERE . . .

The above photo was taken of me as I entered the ruins in Ephesus, Turkey.  This excavation reflects centuries of classical Greek and Roman history. I am not quite as old as the steps I climb in this picture, but when visiting this site I could feel all the stories embedded in the stones, all the memories mixed in the dust, and although I was not privy to their details, I just knew real people had lived their lives here and heard them whisper to me through time. Our stories are timeless. Our stories ARE our lives. Let me tell you some of mine and don't hesitate to go forward with yours!
